MSHR is a collaborative project by Birch Cooper and Brenna Murphy based in Portland, Oregon. The duo produces installations, sculptures and ritualistic performances that place the human body into a dynamic relationship with sound and light, generating expanded sensory experiences. Their current performance series, titled Resonant Hyper Scape Modulator, revolves around a unique system of light-audio feedback that employs their hand made synthesizers. The duo insert themselves into the system, shifting sculptural sensors to steer the feedback patterns as they explore the hyperscapes of a transhumanist ceremony. MSHR emerged from the 5 person art collective Oregon Painting Society in 2011.

MAX EILBACHER:
Drawing equally upon the European tradition of electroacoustic and musique concréte composition, the intuitive American free noise underground, and the abstract edges of processing-intensive contemporary computer music, Max Eilbacher has quickly risen to prominence on the strength of the critically acclaimed “Red Anxiety Tracers” LP for Spectrum Spools, a raft of limited cassette releases under his own name, and an eclectic cluster of ongoing partnerships and collaborations (Horse Lords, Needle Gun, Matmos, Drainolith). His live performances range unpredictably from realtime actionist instrument destruction to delicate quadrophonic manipulations of field recordings, but in whatever form he opts for, Eilbacher can be relied upon to turn an evening on its ear. Whether he’s at an elite culture bunker or a sweaty warehouse, his deep bass tones, ripping modular abstractions, and his slyly esoteric sense of humor prompt headscratching.
